2019 Healthy Town Challenge

2019 Application Information

Applications are invited from rural NSW towns for the NSW Healthy Town Challenge 2019, which will commence on 4th February 2019. The NSW Healthy Town Challenge is a joint initiative of the NSW Office of Preventive Health and the Heart Foundation (NSW) to facilitate healthy eating and active living in rural NSW communities.

Towns that meet the following criteria are eligible to apply:

  1. Total population between 1,000 to 15,000 people in the 2016 census.
  2. Located outside of the Sydney Metropolitan area, as outlined in the Regional Development Regulation 2012.
Towns may submit joint applications with adjacent towns and satellite townships if they did not meet the population requirement or share local services such as health facilities. Five eligible towns will be selected to participate. Each participating town will receive a $15,000 grant to support the promotion and implementation of their activities. The town that wins the Challenge will be awarded a first prize of $5,000.?

Creating Heart Healthy Towns

Creating Heart Healthy Town is a Heart Foundation resource that provides guidance to communities on developing and implementing local initiatives to decrease the risks of heart disease in their community members.
